Cheerleader's Advance to New England's!

The last of Holy Name’s winter sports teams is still competing… no it is not the boy’s basketball team, nor is it the girl’s basketball team (more on those teams later), it is our Spirited and Athletic Holy Name Cheerleaders.

Today at Wachusett Regional High School, the Cheerleading Squad finished 2nd to Swampscott and earned a chance to compete next weekend in the New England Tournament. This is the first time in Holy Name History that the girls have had the opportunity to advance to this level.

3 teams qualified for New England’s. A major victory for the girls was placing 2nd in front of Bartlett, who finished ahead of them a few weeks ago at a Tournament in Grafton.

Congratulations to our squad and wish them luck as they move on! I will post details on where and when the girls compete next week as soon as they are available.

Welcome to the first ever HN athletic Blog!

Welcome to the first ever HN athletic Blog!

Before I begin I would like to thank Mrs. Ramsdell (Krystyanna’s Mom HN ’08) for getting this blog site up and running.

If you are reading this blog then I am going to assume you are interested in Holy Name Sports. The idea of this blog is to keep the Holy Name community informed about all that is happening in HN athletics. The plan for the page is this: it will be run by the students for the students and will give updates on what is going on in each of the sports here at Holy Name. We’ve had many people taking some great pictures this year and although we share them on Facebook and with each other, I thought it would be a great idea to share them on our schools website. We have a lot to be proud of in our athletic department and sharing it with the community is going to be fun. I will try to do weekly updates on each team and invite those who are interested to email story ideas or game results as you get them. As we get used to the format, it would be nice to have a “team blogger” who follows their team and sends an update as well as pictures from a game or two.

We are anxiously awaiting try-outs for our spring seasons and will update this blog with rosters as soon as they become available to us. I would like to start by doing a quick re-cap on our fall and winter sports seasons and remind everyone that the Cheerleading Squad is competing this weekend at Wachusett Regional High School. If you can go cheer them on, please do…they have been working hard and deserve our support!

Check back often as we will be up-dating regularly with new stories and information! Become a follower and please join me in making this the go-to place for HN Athletics.
