This Week in HN Sports

Golf: The Holy Name golf team clinched their spot in the 2010 Division 2 Districts Tournament this past Monday October 4th against Burncoat at Clearview Country Club. With a few cancellations this week due to rain, the team then played a tri-match at Clearview on Friday October 8th against rivals St. Peter Marian and St. Bernard's. Senior Katie Nelson medaled the match against St. Peter's with a 36. Recognition is due to senior Josh Loell who, coming in with an impressive 39 in the last group, won the St. Bernard's match for his team. With all three wins this week, the Holy Name golf team stands with a record of 10-5, the best record this team has held for many years.

Girl’s Soccer: The girls only had one game this week, due to another rescheduling of their game versus Sutton. They faced Doherty at Foley Stadium in Worcester and came away with another win. Melissa Andersen had the first goal for Holy Name, and Ana Bowden contributed 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists). Bridget O’Sullivan also had a goal and an assist for the lady naps. This win brings the girl’s record to 5-3.

Football: The football team took on Westboro this past Saturday. By the looks of the first half, it seemed like it was going to be a close game, but th Naps pulled away in the end and came out with a 28-12 victory, their 4th in a row, bringing their overall record to 4-1.

Boy’s Soccer: This week was a bit of a disappointment for the boys soccer team. With their game being postponed on Wednesday, the boys played South High School on Thursday. HN's John Soltys was the first to put away a goal near the end of the half but then they soon lost the lead after.giving up two penalty kicks. It turned into an ugly game once that happened. South scored 3 more goals and unfortunately the boys could only put two more in before the final whistle. Rob Foley and Hun Jun scored for Holy Name, making the final score 5-3.
