The Red Sox may have opened their season on Sunday, but today was opening day for Holy Name's spring sports. The baseball and softball teams both started their seasons off on the right foot.
The baseball team played Doherty today at Foley Stadium and came away with a convincing 14-2 win. The Naps offense was lead by Dylan Flynn, Taylor Kapulka, and Bill Derosier, who all contributed with home runs. Liam O'Sullivan was solid on the mound, throwing six strong innings, striking out nine and picking up the win. Bill King pitched a scoreless 7th inning. The boys next game is at Haverhill High School on Thursday at 3:45pm.
The softabll team also played Doherty today at Burncoat High School. Behind the solid pitching of Lizzy Patient, who threw 7 shut out innings, the girls came away with a 4-0 victory. Offensively, the top of the order was solid at the plate throughout the game. Cassandra Smith, Keara Lavalle and Jessica DiPilato came through in key situations. We are right back at it again tomorrow, once again playing at Burncoat, but this time against Burncoat at 3:30pm.
The tennis team starts their season tomorrow with their opening match against North at Lake Park.
It is supposed to be a beautiful day tomorrow, so if you are looking for something to do and your in the area, please stop by and root our teams on!
Go Naps!
